Implement
D2SC is a modular solution. We do not anticipate a district implementing our full system at
once. We realize you have systems in place which you may not want to or simply cannot replace due
to functional, budget or technical issues. We have designed our modules to work with other systems
through system interfaces that can be run ad hoc or scheduled to run nightly. Later, you can begin
using our other modules with no loss of data, functionality or training. Our goal is to provide
you one system in which to work so system sychronization is no longer neccessary and all data is
seen in "real-time" or without delay.
D2SC is an Application Service Provider, meaning we host the application on our servers. This
reduces district cost by eliminating the need for any hardware, software and personnel to maintain
the system. Instead of paying a hefty purchase price up front and 20% annual maintenance and support
fees, districts pay an annual subscription fee based upon the number of students. This approach
also means you will be transparently migrated to the latest hardware and software technology
going forward.
Since every district is different, we encourage you to contact
us about your specific needs so that we may create an implementation proposal tailored to your
district's needs. Below are some scenarios and how we might recommend implementation.
Curriculum Management
Current Need
- standards assessment
- content repository
- alignment with standards and objective
Resources
- student information system
- limited gradebook system
- content developed by teachers and/or
curriculm staff
- third party content, some computers
Recommendation: Start with the Curriculum and Teacher modules to create and
upload existing content into a single, shared resource and simultaneously associate the content
with national, state and local objectives. Also, create standards assessments for delivery by booklet
and scan answer sheets directly into the D2SC System.
Migration Path: Extend use of the Teacher module to easily create course syllabi
using the stored content and Instructional Scope and Sequences.
District/Campus/Teacher Benchmark Assessment
Current Need
- standards assessment
- inexpensive testing
- immediate feedback
Resources
- computer labs
- curriculum staff
- student information system
Recommendation: Implement limited use of the Curriculum and Teacher module to
the assessment staff for creation and release of objective-aligned assessments, upload current
student data to the D2SC System, schedule computer labs for rotation by every student in the
subjects and grades to be assessed, run instant objective mastery reports in the Reporting module.
Migration Path: Upload high stakes tests for comparison and trend analysis.
Extend use to unit tests and research projects as curriculum staff and content specialists develop
a content repository.
Gradebook
Need
- student performance analysis
- SIS integration
Resources
- student information system
Recommendation: Use the Student Tracking System (STS) in our Teacher module
and interface with SIS on a nightly basis. Also, upload and access high stakes test data from the
STS. Optionally, set up parents in the system to allow access from home or work.
Migration Path: Take advantage of the gradebook use by setting up curriculum
and creating assessments to replace those that are currently manually graded so that they may be
automatically graded by the system.
